Belma Özdemir was born in Istanbul in 1967. She graduated from Textile Design department
of University of Marmara Fine Arts Faculty in 1989. She also has an MA degree from the
same department where she has been teaching part-time since 2010.
Özdemir is working in fashion for various household brands like Boyner Grup – Limon
Company, Bessini, Derishow, Vizyon Deri –VSP and most recently BAQA. She won the
grand prize in 1997's Beymen Academia Fashion Designer Awards.
Özdemir is also known for Turkey's 2003 Eurovision Song Contest winner Sertab Erener's
Eurovision stage costumes. Turkish singer and songwriter Nil Karaibrahimgil's stage and
video costumes, director Caner Alper and Mehmet Binay's 2011 movie Zenne's belly dancer
costumes and lately Argande's winter and summer 2015 collections which are a social
responsibility project that gives job opportunities to the women in the southeastern region of
Belma Özdemir’s collections that were presented at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week İstanbul
are now on sale at Gizia Gate store.
Belma Özdemir is a member of Board of Directors of Turkish Fashion Designers Association.
Özdemir's designs underline the hidden references of the form, which she calls a neverending
and surprising journey where you look for the unknown within the familiar forms of design.
